It is now December 2008 and the election for a new President of the United States is over. Barack Hussein Obama is now the president-elect. An historic event has taken place. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “dream” has taken on a reality. It has been an emotional, almost spiritual, experience with Obama supporters crying with joy. Some have even elevated Obama’s rise to the Presidency as comparable to the coming of the Messiah. They believe that change is coming and it will be good.

Those who did not vote for Obama view the results like the title of this article: The “abomination of desolation.” They believe that Obama is a secret Muslim, a socialist, a friend of terrorists, and an advocate for every extreme liberal agenda possible. They believe that change is coming and it will be bad.

Regardless of your opinion of the election and of President-elect Obama, this is not the “abomination of desolation.” Yes, it is probable that an Obama administration will turn this country away from traditional values. The path may include conservative points of view being assaulted by radical elements in the most public ways. Culturally and economically the United States is crumbling as never before.

But, we are believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We believe that we are part of God’s plan to bring in His government and future “messianic age.” We also believe, as the Messiah said, there would be false messiahs and many would be misled. So, why should we be surprised by what is happening?

I believe we are the last generation. We will see the end of the ages. This is not caused by Barack Obama being elected president. His election, however, is consistent with the “beginning of sorrows” spoken of prior to the abomination of desolation and the Great Tribulation.

Looking forward then, what can we expect in the next four years? Change is coming.

I don’t know the definitive answer to the question of the future, but I can say with confidence that there will be more “wars and rumors of wars,” there will be more famines and earthquakes, and people will hate each other more and lawlessness will increase. Our faith will be challenged even more than today.

Do you remember the famous campaign question usually referred to in presidential elections? “Are you better off now than four years ago?” Let’s borrow that campaign question but turn it around. Do we believe that four years from now we will be better off? I am going to be candid with you: I do not believe that we or the world will be better off four years from now. I have a very strong sense of foreboding about the next fours years. I believe that the next four years will lead us to the real abomination of desolation.

Just for discussion, let’s look four years ahead. There are some things that are visible and planned that we know about. For example, four years from now, December of 2012, President Obama may well have been re-elected. We could be looking at the beginning of his second term. Or, a new president will have just been elected, probably because Obama couldn’t get the economy going. The “new” president will likely have campaigned on the theme “Restoring America to Greatness again.” There are some others things also planned for the world in the year 2012 that we should consider.

Maybe you didn’t know it but the year 2012 is shaping up to be more dramatic than the new millennium year 2000. According to Wikipedia, an online internet world dictionary/ encyclopedia, the year 2012 has the following things planned:

1. On January 31, 2012 the asteroid Eros 433 (the second largest known Near Earth Object) will pass the Earth at a distance of 0.1790 astronomical units (approximately 16,639,090 miles). This is the same asteroid that prompted the space probe to be launched in 1996 that purposely crashed into it.
2. February 6, 2012 is the 60th anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) of Queen Elizabeth as the monarch of England and the Commonwealth (the former British Empire).
3. April 2012 is the date scheduled for the United States to dissolve the joint US/Korean military program. U.S. forces are to withdraw from South Korea.
4. July 27, 2012 is the date scheduled for the beginning of the summer Olympic Games in London, England.
5. In October 2012 the world’s population is expected to reach 7 billion people.
6. On November 6, 2012 the United States will hold Presidential elections.
7. On December 21, 2012 near the winter solstice, our solar system (the sun and planets) will pass through the Milky Way Galactic Equator, called the “ecliptic.”

On this same date, the MesoAmerican Mayan Calendar will complete the 13th B’ak’tun cycle completing 5,125 solar years. This calendar dates back (using the Gregorian Calendar) to August 11, 3114 B.C. (which is the antediluvian era near the date of Adam’s death). According to “New Agers,” there is to be a “spiritual transformation” or an “apocalypse” and a major change in the world order. A b’ak’tun is, interestingly enough, 144,000 days.

Sometime during the year 2012 the Internet will be transferring in excess of 44 exabytes (which is more than you can imagine) and a new supercomputer called “Pleiades” is scheduled to begin operating at 10 Petaflops per second. 1 Petaflop is 10 quadrillion operations per second.

2012 will also host Solar maximum. Solar maximum is the period when the sun's magnetic field lines are the most distorted due to the magnetic field on the solar equator rotating at a slightly faster pace than at the solar poles. The magnetic poles of the sun reverse themselves. The sun takes about 11 years to go from one solar maximum to another and 22 years to complete a full cycle (where the magnetic charge on the poles is the same). On March 10, 2006 NASA researchers announced that the next cycle would be the strongest since the historic maximum in 1958 in which the northern lights could be seen as far south as Rome, approximately 42° north of the equator. The prediction is that the sunspot activity with flares and coronal mass ejections (CME’s) will be 30 to 50 percent greater. In fact, some are predicting that it will not wait for 2012, that we could see some of this as early as 2010. There is genuine concern that the solar winds could affect satellites, global positioning system (GPS) equipment, the power grid, and cell phones. This is due in part to understanding the sun’s internal conveyor belt system (similar to ocean currents on the Earth) that will combine with the normal 11 year sunspot activity. The sun is really a liquid mass with flows and currents.

Web Bot, an internet company that uses internet activity to predict trends with incredible accuracy to date, is indicating that 2012 is going to have something “traumatic” about it.

Hollywood has taken note of all of this too. They have a new disaster movie coming out next Summer entitled “2012.”

From a Biblical prophecy standpoint, we know activity of the sun corresponds to the “sun scorching mankind,” a specific prophecy associated with the Great Tribulation.

The fourth angel poured out his bowl upon the sun, and it was given to it to scorch men with fire.

Revelation 16:8

The technology gains, in particular digital money, support other prophecies such as the “mark of the beast” and the whole world witnessing key events.

And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand, or on their forehead, and he provides that no one should be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.

Revelation 13:16-17

But for us, the most compelling thing we will be looking for is what Yeshua referenced that would be THE sign of the end of the age – the abomination of desolation – the prophecy of Daniel. What is the “abomination of desolation?” It is an act of ultimate defiance and blasphemy toward God and challenging His ownership of the Earth as represented by His altar, which brings on God’s judgment of mankind and the Earth.

Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), …

Matthew 24:15

So let’s quickly review what THAT sign is.

And from the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.

Daniel 12:11

There are two parts: an altar service is shut down and an image is set up. Let’s talk about the shutting down of the altar first.

It [the beast] even magnified itself to be equal with the Commander of the host; and it removed the regular sacrifice from Him, and the place of His sanctuary was thrown down.

Daniel 8:11

And on account of transgression the host [the tribulation saints] will be given over to the horn [the beast] along with the regular sacrifice; and it will fling truth to the ground and perform its will and prosper. Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to that particular one who was speaking, "How long will the vision about the regular sacrifice apply, while the transgression causes horror, so as to allow both the holy place and the host [the tribulation saints] to be trampled?"

Daniel 8:12-13

And forces from him [the beast] will arise, desecrate the sanctuary fortress, and do away with the regular sacrifice. And they will set up the abomination of desolation.

Daniel 11:31

An altar must be in operation on the holy place (the temple mount) with the daily sacrifice to satisfy this prophecy. The daily sacrifice consists of the morning and evening lambs. It is called the tamid (continual) regular sacrifice that serves as the bookends for the altar service of that day. The first sacrifice of the day is the morning lamb and the concluding sacrifice of the day is the evening lamb. The cessation of the altar is the first part of the abomination of desolation. The prophecy says that the cessation is the sign of the beginning of the Great Tribulation.

The setting up of the abomination is the second part. This is an image (statue) of the antimessiah, the one magnifying himself to be equal with the Commander of the host. It follows the story of King Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, who made an image of himself requiring everyone to bow before it and worship it.

Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, the height of which was sixty cubits and its width six cubits; he set it up on the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent word to assemble the satraps, the prefects and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates and all the rulers of the provinces to come to the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up. Then the satraps, the prefects and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates and all the rulers of the provinces were assembled for the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

Daniel 3:1-3

…that at the moment you hear the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery, bagpipe, and all kinds of music, you are to fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up.

Daniel 3:5

Therefore at that time, when all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery, bagpipe, and all kinds of music, all the peoples, nations and men of every language fell down and worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

Daniel 3:7

You probably know the rest of the story. Three Jews refused to bow and went through the furnace and were sustained by the Lord. Even Daniel spent time in the lion’s den defying the king. It is from this “setting up” that the prophecy of the beast comes into focus. The book of Revelation speaks to it directly.

And he [false prophet] deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who had the wound of the sword and has come to life. And there was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast might even speak and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

Revelation 13:14-15

The false prophet will cause the image to miraculously speak to promote the antimessiah. Just as in the days of Daniel, the world is called upon to bow before the image. This happens just before the beast comes to power for 42 months.

Yeshua alluded to the comparison between Nebuchadnezzar’s image setup and the future image that will be set up by the false prophet of the beast.

Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),

Matthew 24:15

It appears that both parts of the abomination of desolation happen within 30 days. The Great Tribulation is to last 1290 days from the cessation of the altar. Another prophecy about the two witnesses specifies that they are to prophecy after the image is set up until the end of the 1290 days. Since they testify for 1260 days, the difference is 30 days. So, the altar is shut down and 30 days later the image is set up. The combination of the two is the abomination of desolation.

According to Yeshua, the abomination of desolation with the saints fleeing is connected with the season of winter, and then 3 ½ years later the sign of His return is connected with the season of summer through the parable of the fig tree.

At the start of the 3 ½ years:

But pray that your flight may not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath;

Matthew 24:20

At the end of the 3 ½ years:

Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender, and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near;

Matthew 24:32

This is why the Apostle Paul said that it was not necessary to explain the seasons and years to us any further.

Now as to the times [years] and the epochs [seasons], brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you.

I Thessalonians 5:1

The Great Tribulation is a “time, times, and half a time,” a 3½ year event. The “times” are the three and one-half years in question. The seasons are the winter when the abomination of desolation begins and the summer (3½ years later) when the sign of His return comes.

The abomination of desolation is the sign of the end of the ages. It leads to the judgments of God during the Great Tribulation resulting in the coming of the Son of God to establish His kingdom. The Great Tribulation has its own set of prophecies (predominantly given in the book of Revelation). But an incredible pattern from the past plays a role. The Exodus from Egypt with its ten judgments sets a pattern closely followed by the seals, trumpets, and plagues of Revelation. The Great Tribulation has a number of specific “time prophecies” associated with it. If all of these prophecies are put together, a special combination of seasons, years, months, days, days of the week, even evenings and mornings quickly emerges. This pattern is incredibly precise and detailed. It is so precise that once you see when the abomination of desolation occurs, it lays out the final 3 ½ years in great detail.

Some prophecy teachers argue against such understanding of the prophecies because “No man knows the day or the hour” of His return. I always chuckle when I hear these teachers use this quote. Any observant Jew can tell you what Yeshua was saying. Yom Teruah, the Feast of Trumpets, begins on a New Moon, the first of Tishri. Because it is at the New Moon, whose cycle varies slightly from month to month, it is said of the Feast of Trumpets, “no man knows the hour or the day” of the feast. Yeshua was referring to a future Feast of Trumpets. Every year, at the blowing of the shofar, we teach that the Feast of Trumpets is the day of the resurrection, when the saints will rise at the sound of the trumpet. The last trumpet call is called the Tekiah HaGadol – the great blast of the trumpet! Yeshua said that when He comes back the dead would rise to eternal life.

There are other arguments made by critics of this understanding of the Great Tribulation, namely, by a lot of brethren who don’t want anything to do with the Great Tribulation or being tribulation saints. They advocate that they will be raptured out before the tribulation. They believe in a “pre-tribulation rapture.” I fear for these folks. Their faith will be severely tested when the abomination of desolation actually occurs. Instead of acknowledging the prophecy and Scripture, they will either deny the fulfillment or deny their faith completely. Either way, they are in serious trouble. The prophecy speaks of a great “falling away” of the faith at that time. This is what the Apostle Paul was trying to warn about in the second letter to the Thessalonians.

Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Yeshua HaMeshiach, and our gathering together to Him, that you may not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.

II Thessalonians 2:1-4

Paul says that the events of the Great Tribulation leading to the “day of the Lord” are preceded by an “apostasy” and beast (antimessiah) coming to power: “the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship.”

The man of lawlessness is revealed and exalts himself at the abomination of desolation with the setting up of his image as the prophecy has already said.

So let’s step back and review for a moment. At sometime in the future, there will an abomination of desolation that is the sign Yeshua said would conclusively tell us we are at the end of the age, He is coming very soon, and the Great Tribulation has begun.

Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), … for then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever shall.

Matthew 24:15,21

Anticipating this future event, we can examine what prerequisites are needed to fulfill these prophecies. For example,

1. An Altar With the Regular Sacrifice.

If an altar is going to be shut down stopping the daily sacrifice, then an altar with daily sacrifices must be set up in the future. Since one is not set up and operating yet, we are looking for events that would cause Israel to control part of the temple mount and to establish a great altar.

Most believers are aware of the Jewish organizations in Israel dedicated to the rebuilding of the temple and build and operate an altar with the daily sacrifice. They are waiting for the political landscape of Israel to change and give them access to the temple mount. New elections in Israel are coming in February of 2009. At the moment, the Likud party under the leadership of Benjamin Netanyahu looks like the likely winner. He is considerably more conservative than the current leadership and he is not a proponent of the present peace negotiations with the Palestinians. War is always a real threat in the Middle East. Netanyahu’s rise to leadership is expected to inflame the Palestinians (and probably irritate the U.S. administration).

Therefore, I am looking for the next war in the Middle East to significantly alter the political landscape. Four years is a long time in the Middle East where lightning warfare of missiles and special weapons can decide the matter in days.

2. Apostasy

Christianity is nearly defunct in Europe. The cathedrals of old are more like museums. Many smaller churches have been converted into restaurants. There are still believers there but Christianity is no longer the overriding influence it once was. America is in the middle of a culture war and anti-God, anti-Christian sentiment is growing. Those who have a voice in the public circle are not afraid to speak against the word of God nor those who speak the word of God. Main Street USA looks more like Sodom and Gomorrah every day. I expect it to get worse. I expect many “Christians” to shrink back as this increases and to just walk away from the faith as others have done in other countries already.

When the altar does get set up, you can expect Christian leaders (of established denominations) to denounce it. Their opposition will be misguided based on ignorance of the Scriptures and the prophecies in them.

Among the Catholics, another prophetic element is emerging. There is an ancient prophecy within the Catholic faith from St. Malachy whereby he predicted that there will be one more Pope after the present one. According to this prophecy, he will be very bad and be the last Pope of the Catholic church. Could the present Pope die within the next four years and another take his place? It is not out of the question. Old men die on a regular basis in this mortal world.

If a new Pope were to rise in the next four years, I would expect him to contribute dramatically to the apostasy and probably take the actions described in Scripture of the false prophet. This would include the apparent healing of the antimessiah when he is assassinated prior to coming to power himself.

3. The Emergence of the Antimessiah

If we are at the end of the ages and approaching the abomination of desolation, then the antimessiah, whoever he is, should be among us. He should be a grown man, established in his own right, about to emerge onto the public scene. He must be a citizen of a country that will play a part in his rise to power. He must be “in training” for the role that he will play in the prophecies.

As you know, virtually every public figure is scrutinized for the possibility that he is the antimessiah. You can be assured that President-Elect Obama is being looked at as such a person by others. The Bible is filled with clues about the antimessiah who is to come. Obama does not match them or even come close. But there is another that does match the clues (at least those that can be matched prior to the Great Tribulation). Once the Great Tribulation begins and he exalts himself equal to God, then there will be no question or doubt.

One of the most powerful clues (Rev 13:18) that can be used to potentially identify the antimessiah prior to him emerging publicly is the number of his name — 666. Another clue is where he originates from. He is to be a prince of the people (Dan 9:26) who came and destroyed the temple in Jerusalem, on whom the honor of kingship (Dan 11:21) has not been conferred. Simply said, we need to be looking for a “prince” from the ancient Roman Empire whose name calculates to the value of 666 using the Hebrew gematria method (the same method that was used when the prophecy was first given).

There is a potential candidate among us today that does match these identifying prophecies. His name is Prince Charles of Wales. He is a “prince” on whom the honor of kingship has not been conferred. He is a prince of the people who came and destroyed the temple (Britannia was the western head of the Roman Empire). His name equals 666 in both English and Hebrew. Is he the antimessiah we are anticipating? No one really knows yet.

Interestingly enough, Prince Charles does have a “beast” and a red dragon in his heraldry as described in Revelation.

And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave him his power and his throne and great authority.

Revelation 13:2

The heraldic beasts (the lions/leopards of England) are the symbol of Prince Charles. As the Prince of Wales his banner is a red dragon.

Even more fascinating is the statue that has already been constructed of Prince Charles. It is life size with Prince Charles dressed in a loin cloth standing on the globe of the Earth with large angel wings. It is entitled “Prince Charles of Wales – Savior of the World” and is located in Brazil. This was announced to the international press several years ago with everyone yawning. I think a likely candidate for the antimessiah having a statue of himself made announcing him as “Savior of the World” would have caught the attention of every prophecy student, but it slid right by without any note.

However, there is another prophecy about the antimessiah that could lend even more evidence to Prince Charles prior to the abomination of desolation.

According to the prophecies, the antimessiah is to be assassinated or an attempt will take place resulting in the future antimessiah having an eye and arm injury. Apparently, the false prophet (Rev 13:14) is be part of the healing/resurrection process.

Woe to the worthless shepherd [the antimessiah] who leaves the flock! A sword will be on his arm and on his right eye! His arm will be totally withered, and his right eye will be blind.

Zechariah 11:17

According to reports, Prince Charles is very afraid of being assassinated. If Prince Charles is assassinated and the new Pope raises him from the dead and heals him with the exception of his right eye and arm, then we are getting very close to the abomination of desolation. Logic seems to indicate that this happens just prior to him coming to power.

4. The Rise to Power of the Antimessiah

Most of the prophecies of the antimessiah address how he comes to power. A riddle of sorts explains it. The antimessiah is to rise to power among ten leaders (Dan 7:8,24; Rev 17:12) who come from a previous kingdom of seven leaders. It is the prophecy of the seven heads with ten horns. The prophecy says that the antimessiah will be different from the ten but rise in their midst with seven of the ten agreeing and three dissenting. He also is connected to the previous seven heads (Rev 17:9-11).

The European Union is currently working on their constitution. One of its intriguing elements is the executive branch. They want to have a “counsel of ministers” who actually vote for the overall executive. Presently, each minister has the power to rule for 6 months. If they were to combine their votes, say seven of them, then the leader would be given the power to rule by 7 leaders times 6 months resulting in 42 months.

Presently, there are more than ten ministers (one comes from each nation in the EU). The constitution being drafted is trying to find a way to shorten the number of ministers to ten. This is something worth watching as the constitution is to be ratified in the coming years. According to the prophecy, the antimessiah may be the first leader given this power, and the ten kings are the base of his power structure.

And the ten horns which you saw are ten kings, who have not yet received a kingdom, but they receive authority as kings with the beast for one hour.

Revelation 17:12

5. The End of the Exile and the Return of Ephraim

Israel went into exile among the nations as two groups. First, the House Israel led by the tribe of Ephraim went into Assyrian captivity (approximately 722 B.C.) and were scattered throughout the world. The second was the House of Judah, who went into Roman captivity following the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. In 1947 the UN decree opened the door for a Jewish state and independence was declared in 1948. Jews (those from the House of Judah) have returned from many nations. But what about the House of Israel led by Ephraim?

Many believers are not aware of this prophecy nor the role it plays leading to the Great Tribulation. The prophecies are numerous and comprehensive. Judah and Ephraim are to be joined together in the land. The return of Judah and Ephraim will be perceived as a more significant event than the ancient exodus from Egypt. This exodus will follow a regional war in the mountains of Israel. There will be a great victory. God will declare the end of the exile punishment of all of Israel and pour His Spirit upon the “whole House of Israel.”

If you see the government of Israel begin to speak of B’nai Ephraim (the sons of Ephraim) to return to the land of Israel and the doors open for immigration to the land in the next few years and if you see a regional war in Israel with the Palestinian problem suddenly not being a problem anymore and believers are testifying to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, then we are getting very close to the abomination of desolation.

We know we will be getting close because the prophecy says that the antimessiah will be opposed to the brotherhood of Judah and Ephraim (Zechariah 11:14). He will be opposed to the immigration of B’nai Ephraim to the land.

6. Increasingly Fearful Things Associated With the Earth

Mankind doesn’t really have a lot of say about events happening to the Earth, the sun, or the rest of the solar system. If an asteroid comes crashing into the Earth, then man can’t really do anything about it except hang on and live with the results. I find it fascinating that some are talking about global warming as though (if it were really happening) we could actually reverse the trend or suddenly fix the problem by not driving SUV’s. Mankind has no capacity to prevent or redirect volcanos, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, tornados, asteroid strikes, etc. So when these things happen, they command our attention. Like I said, we live through these things and then pick up the pieces.

The prophecy says that there will be many fearful things coming caused by natural elements (physical sciences).

And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

Luke 21:25-26

In 2012, solar maximum will come. It may be more disruptive than people are anticipating. Let me share another element of concern that is even more frightening. It is called “pole reversal.” What if the Earth’s magnetic poles were to reverse? That is, let’s have the North Pole go south and the South Pole go north. Better yet, let’s have the North Pole go to Florida and have the South Pole go to opposite side of the globe. This would produce catastrophic climate change to the Earth. This is the scenario that scared Einstein. Is it even possible that the magnetic poles of the Earth could relocate like they do on the sun every 22 years? The answer is Yes. Geomagnetic scientists have discovered the evidence of prior pole shifting and reversal from the basalt deposits on the ocean floor. Some say the pole reversal in a natural phenomenon every 250,000 years, while others point to evidence of a much smaller frequency. We already have people suggesting that in 2012 and years following we could see the Earth do this, stimulated by Solar maximum.

Animal scientists tell us that the Earth’s magnetic field is the navigation system for birds flying north and south, for animals finding their way through the woods, find their way home, etc. If the Earth’s magnetic field is disturbed or moving around, it gives the animal kingdom a headache. This may be the reason for the judgment of “wild beasts.”

And I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him. And authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.

Revelation 6:8

The Great Tribulation is to be a time of distress as the world has never seen before.

Now at that time Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people, will arise. And there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; and at that time your people, everyone who is found written in the book, will be rescued.

Daniel 12:1

The distress to come is greater than the nations of the world have seen before. Pole reversal could certainly satisfy that description. Now add that to the normal stuff like volcanos, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, tornados, asteroid strikes, etc.

I am expecting more physical science phenomena to occur in the next few years with people becoming even more fearful. Personally, I am glad that my God is bigger and more powerful than the Universe and all of its physical activities.

7. The Abomination of Desolation Will Occur…

If you held a gun to my head and demanded that I tell you the time frame of the Great Tribulation, when I expect the abomination of desolation to occur, then… I would say that the winter of 2013 (a couple of months after December 21, 2012) is the most likely candidate.

Why does the winter of 2013 through the summer of 2016 look so interesting as the period of the Great Tribulation?

Do you remember me mentioning that there are a lot of prophecies about the Great Tribulation? The prophecies are very specific with many details sequencing events before and after key events. The prophecies are in a Hebrew context. Understanding and interpreting them correctly requires a Hebraic understanding. For example, when it specifies “years” it is not solar years as we use in Western culture. It is not 365 days. It is using Hebrew years that begin and end with Yom Teruah. There are long and short years with a total number of six different day lengths (353, 354, 355, 383, 384, and 385 days) for the year. Months are not 30 days, they are lunar months (from new moon to new moon) – averaging 29 days. The Appointed Times (the Biblical Feasts) are paramount to understanding the sequences. Understanding the ancient exodus and the anniversary dates for the judgments is crucial. All of these clues together are like the tumblers in a lock waiting for the right key. The key that fits is a specific set of years, months, days, seasons, days of the week, and the Biblical feasts which match the pattern of the tribulation time line prophecies. Therefore, the time line can be used to anticipate the future time frame that matches it.

So, am I prophesying when the abomination of desolation is going to occur? No. But ask me that question after we get through 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 when the previous items 1 through 6 have occurred. If the prerequisites are satisfied, the time line will be almost anti-climatic. Once the abomination of desolation occurs, everyone will be focused on the prophecies happening, not the possibility of them happening in the future.

Where will you be in 2012? How much older will you be? It’s only four years away. What if you had four years to get ready for the Great Tribulation – a time of distress as the world has never seen before – a time when the antimessiah comes to power? What would you do? How would you prepare? One thing is for certain. Change is definitely coming. Whatever you are planning to do must be done in a world changing at the same time.

President-Elect Obama is not the antimessiah, nor is his election the start of the Great Tribulation. I understand the concern of my fellow brethren for how the world is changing and the atmosphere is getting colder for people of faith… but these were prophesied as well.
